About me

My name is Ken Stebbins. I was born and raised in Cronulla; more importantly, I was born again in my mid-teens after some early teen years of doubt and struggle. Later I found assurance in 1 Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” At the time it was a joy to my heart to realise that Christ Jesus came to save me; as I grew older and the number and forms of sin in my life multiplied I have come to understand better the last five words in that verse and wondered even more that the Lord would save me.

My Irish born wife, Eileen, is the love of my life; we have been married for 52 years. She is the greatest earthly gift the Lord has given me – along with our 4 grown up children, 2 sons-in-law, and 8 grandchildren. We are greatly blessed as families to share our faith together.

I trained as a civil engineer for 5 years, then worked in industry for another 5 years, before entering the ministry in 1975, serving the the Lord in a church in Wollongong, then as a missionary with my family in Kenya, followed by 26 years in a church in Brisbane.

As well as preaching and sharing God’s Word in smaller groups and one-on-one, I enjoy the beach, the bush, hiking, camping, bike riding, kayaking, travelling, photo-videos and photoshop, history, maths, bridges, reading and doing jigsaws – especially when I can do any of these together with Eileen or my family.

But most of all I “rejoice because my name is written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). I rejoice to know God as my Father, Jesus Christ as my God-sent Saviour, and the Holy Spirit as my God-sent Comforter. Whatever else I believe is based solely upon God’s infallible and inerrant Word, the Bible; and is summed up as it is explained so well in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
